Staying Safe in the New Frontier

The tools of development are changing. Modern AI and LLMs have created a new breed of tooling that has the potential to vastly increase the productivity of Engineers who use them, but they also present security, legal, and IP risks that can make their adoption in the workplace challenging.

 

In this session, SCW Senior Product Manager Chelle Saunders, will deep-dive into the current state of AI coding tools, learn more about the models that underpin them, and explore how their usage is changing the way software is built. We'll examine the benefits and the pitfalls, taking a closer look at the ways these tools can introduce new and different security and legal risks, as well as how to mitigate those risks. We'll also look at some best practices for prompt engineering when it comes to code generation, and take a look at what the current roster of AI coding tools are good at, and what they still struggle with.
